At the time of vine flowering, we took a morning trip to Modra at the end of June; to the vineyards. This was the moment when the Kramáre, Kalvária and Skalka vineyards were at their peak energy, channeling their strength into flowering so that beautiful grapes could once again grow this year.
These three vineyards are planted on hillsides. In the lower, more fertile sections, varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Blaufränkisch thrive. Higher up, you’ll find Traminer, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling.
The Riesling plantation in the Kramáre vineyard is the most extensive, spanning nine terraces and three additional unified plots. The decision to plant Riesling here was influenced by the granite soil, which is rich in potassium and phosphorus.
Our "Riesling from Kramáre" is still relatively young, yet it already stands out with its beautiful minerality and aromas of sweet tropical fruit. It differs from the Suchý vrch Riesling, which has long been known for its linden blossom and honeyed character. These "terroir" differences are what make wines so unique. The distinct personality of each vineyard and the diverse soils within them create the foundation for their beauty.
